Our Mission

A full range of dementia services all under one roof

There is an urgent need for a new approach to dementia support. According to the Alzheimer’s Society, the number of people in this area living with dementia is projected to increase by 50% by 2030. West Berkshire Dementia Hub’s vision is to meet this challenge by providing an enhanced level of support for individuals living with dementia and their family carers, changing the way we look at dementia by helping to reduce the fear and stigma that surrounds diagnosis and offering positivity and hope instead of abandonment and despair.

Our mission is to deliver a welcoming and flexible community space, which offers a full range of dementia services all under one roof, bringing in other organisations and signposting out to what is going on in the community. We will define what good looks like for a modern dementia hub, looking to the 2030s and beyond at a time of rapid advances in technology and medicines.

The aim is to enable people to live better with dementia, remaining at home for as long as possible. Within the Hub we will provide:

  • A café which will be a warm, welcoming place of connection at its heart
  • A central focus for the NHS and Adult Social Care
  • A range of therapeutic support services
  • Activities, education and training programmes
  • Access to dementia technology
  • Support for families and carers, empowering them to plan for the future
  • Practical and emotional wayfinding at every step
  • Opportunities to participate in research as a positive choice that empowers people living with dementia to play a role in changing the future of dementia care
